If you are planning a short trip within Ontario, then I have a package for you. Here are the 3 Natural wonders in Ontario, which are supposed to be your top priority.
- Algonquin Provincial Park
Algonquin Park is one of my favorite places for hiking, swimming in the lakes, canoeing, etc. It is located in Ontario, about a 3-hour drive from Toronto or Ottawa, the capital of Canada, depending on traffic. The high season is summer, with warm weather for camping, hiking, and swimming. You can also visit in the fall if you love to explore the fall colors of the park. The park is open all year round, though visitors do not prefer to visit during winter due to extreme weather conditions. If you are brave enough, winter offers activities like snowshoeing, dog sledding, and skating, allowing you to explore the solitude of the park.
A car is the best option for getting around the park. If you do not have a car, you can rent one or take park buses from any major city.
- Niagara Falls
If you are a nature lover and keen to experience one of the top natural wonders in the world, then Niagara Falls will attract you like a magnet. Located on the border of Canada and the US in Ontario Province, you can reach it from anywhere in Canada by car, train, or flight. The nearest airport to Niagara Falls is Toronto Pearson International Airport. It takes around a 2-hour drive from Toronto to Niagara Falls.
Walking behind the falls, taking helicopter tours of Niagara Falls, and a boat trip at the base of the falls are the most attractive activities here. You will get a close view of the falls from the boat, which is truly mesmerizing. June to August is the main season to travel to Niagara. You can also travel between April and May if you prefer to avoid crowds and rush.
- Thousand Islands
Who does not like to take a cruise tour? The Thousand Islands dot the St. Lawrence River with over 1,800 islands. If you love to take a cruise tour to relax with mesmerizing scenery, then it’s a perfect place for you. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the ancient castles, like Boldt Castle and Singer Castle, to explore the history and cultures. You can also book a helicopter tour to see the amazing view of the St. Lawrence River with its calm water and the beautiful scenery of the small islands.
Opting for a car is the easiest way to reach there, with a 3-hour drive from Toronto or Montreal. It’s also accessible from Ottawa with a 2-hour drive. If you have no option for a personal vehicle, you can go by flight, bus, or train to Kingston, then rent a taxi to reach your destination.
